Type 2
I have been a type 2 diabetic for two & half years I have had metformin both ordinary & slow release then another tatablet beginning with vi not sure what these have both been stopped as were ineffective .i was then told to control it with diet this was ok for six months now I am back to high blood sugars weight up & blood pressure high the doctor has suggested a non insulin injection .does anyone have experience of these please .

There are a few non insulin injections. The most common ones are called Victoza, Byetta and Bydureon. There is also a new weekly one called Trulicity.

Here is a little bit more information: https://www.diabetes.org.uk/incretin-mimetics

(granted that page would be better if it had more info on it!)

Be careful with mimectics, they have done very nasty side effects. Make sure you ask about then. I went blind into accepting Trulicity, then found that it can cause pancreitis or worse thyroid cancer
