Hello I posted briefly the other month about no matter what I eat I rise stupidly. I’m on 4 metformin a day now it worked great for 1 year and now they’ve changed the brand it’s not even doing anything doctor said to switch to another med but I have health anxiety and when he mentioned a possibly of DKA I panicked! All I’ve ate today is egg and cress sarnie on wholewheat. And I’ve spiked to 17!!! I’m normally ok with wholewheat? I’m so confused I get scared to eat until it’s come back down again cause it usually makes them go even higher. I’ve had antibodies test and I am confirmed type 2. I’m just so scared the damage it’s doing to my body!

@Cait You'd be quite an unusual type 2 if you can eat bread and not spike.
For many type 2s the egg, or any protein source, cress, or any salad stuff, low carb veges are the basis for a way of eating which controls glucose levels, and can take them right down to normal numbers.
We are all different in how our metabolism deals with starch and sugar, but avoiding high carb foods is usually a good start, with testing to check that meals are OK or in need of adjusting.
Fasting and worrying can result in the liver releasing glucose as it wants to be helpful in case you need to run away from some danger, which is probably why I found eating at 12 hour intervals brought down my numbers to normal quite quickly after diagnosis.

Looking at what your actual meal is doing not just what it went up to as what is was before you ate is important, if the before to after increase is more than 3mmol/l that indicates you have not tolerated the meal too well.
The graph seems to show your level is generally quite high so it is going to be your overall diet rather than one specific meal.
It would be worth seeing if that was just a one off but even wholemeal bread especially 2 slices would be quite high carb so you could try just 1 slice or have an omelette with veg or salad instead to see if it is the bread that is causing the problem.
There are more ideas for low carb meals in this link which may be better than sandwiches. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
