Type 2
Hello there,
My name is Gabi, I'm 24 and type 2 since 2017.
I've been struggling with everything to do with the lowing carbs and keeping my food in the right way.
I don't always eat right but sometimes I don't even eat.. because im scared of sugars going too high. Sadly that isnt the case my suagrs are always in the high, they wont come down, i am now on insulin 10 units once a daily and sitagliptin 100mg once daily, can anyone help me out? like im now living on my own after my family kicked me out. and i can't even think about my health. I have so much health issues. im so young to have type 2 diabetes but its something to do with my family.

Hello Gabi

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry to hear you are having a tough time with diabetes and that it is impacting your other health conditions.

22 is quite young to be diagnosed with type 2. And it sounds as if the standard first line tablet approaches haven’t worked, despite low carb eating and you’ve quickly moved to insulin.

Have you ever been checked for antibodies or cPeptide? I am just wondering whether you might be type 1 or LADA rather than T2?

Even if the eventual insulin therapy is quite similar, an accurate classification is worth having because the evidence of benefit of some options/technology is different between the types and you should get access to the right options for your diabetes.

Hi. Yes, do ask for the two tests for late onset T1 (LADA). These are GAD and C-peptide. Unless you are greatly overweight, at your young age being T2 is unlikely. Mis-diagnosis is quite common so do query the diagnosis. It's good that you are on insulin to help control the blood sugar.
