Hello everyone my daughter has been diagnosed aged 5 now 6 2 mnths ago its been a rough couple of months for all of us especially when it comes to injections her levels are pretty in range now but we have to carb count everything so its a big change for all of us she is coping pretty well but been suffering with constant tummy pain it seems to always b there but sometimes comes stronger which she crawls in a ball its horrible to see been to hospital but they have not really done anything as her levels are in range when we were there im so worried to why she is getting these pains any one have any advice ? I am sorry to hear about your daughter’s diagnosis. It is a lot to learn very quickly so well done for getting her levels in range already.

Our levels do tend to rise with illness and it can be a useful marker of illness before we even know we are ill. However your daughter is clearly struggling with the tummy pains. I do get frustrated sometimes when my GP on occasions puts things that he is not sure of down to my D. Keep asking for help with this.
 
Hi and welcome to the forum. My daughter had tummy pains a while back and we never got to grips with why. Ask your GP for some blood tests so that things can be ruled out. Was she tested for celiacs when diagnosed? Sorry she is feeling so poorly on top of all the adjustments you all have to make for type1.

Hi everyone she has been tested for celiacs disease but they said she doesn't have it , i do feel like they dont know i do believe bloods need to be taken , she doesn't like bloods being taken at all and she gets upset at the idea she doesn't understand why this is happening to her and not her friends its so hard she made a wish to a fairy asking for her diabetes to go away absolutely broke me but ive got to stay strong for her
 
The doctors told me that children sometimes make out things are worse than they are but i do not believe this is the case especially when shes on the floor , another doctor told me insulin can take a while to get used to body and cause tummy pain another doctor told me she was constipated which she wasnt confirmed by hospital as she goes toilet everyday i feel like im just going round on circles

Aww Cally how frustrating for you both.
Can you give your little poppet some Calpol and if so does it help?
 
Tummy pains in children are, I understand, very difficult to diagnose. Could be stress related due to her diagnosis? Must be very hard for a five year old to say how she feels. Have they offered you any specialist counselling support as a family? Might be useful anyway.
 
Another thought, could you keep a diary and note down when she has the tummy pains? IE is it before injection time, just after or after certain foods. This way you might be able to pin it down.

So sorry to hear about everything you and your little one are facing, it must be heartbreaking for you :(

Frustrating too that the Drs aren’t being particularly helpful, and don’t seem to have a clear way forward.

I think @Pumper_Sue’s idea of a diary might be a helpful one, and give you some more clues?
