Hi,
I have been T1 since 2007 and since then gain weight which have often tried to shift but not had much luck, was a Slimming world memeber for many years but the groups I went to didn't really understand T1, I have tried the nutracheck again some success but it just sticking to it as am a fussy eater. I am also semi exercing by doing the NHS chair assist. Am insulin based Toujeo and Fiasp, I also use mylife app and on dexcom, I shall also be moving on to the pump in the new year.

What foods do you like @Cathryn ? What would be an average’s day’s food for you? Do you have difficulties exercising and/or a disability?

Hi, I'm a picky eater so plan foods meat & veg, bolognese, toasty sandwhichs, cereal etc. An average day would be cereal (cheerios), chesse & ham toast sandwich with crisps, tea would be meat and veg etc. I do indeed have difficulties exercising as I have a curve in the spin, I can't swim because I get regular ear infections even with ear plugs in.

None of that sounds excessive @Cathryn Have you tried a few tweaks to reduce the carbs/calories a little? Eg swapping the crisps for some berries and/or having an open sandwich with one slice of bread plus extra veg/salad?

I have the opposite problem in that I struggle to maintain my weight. I use MyFitnessPal to measure my calorie intake on a daily basis and find I have to keep up with my small changes each and every day to see a difference. So, it might be the same for you even though we’re in different positions. I find it’s the consistency day after day, week after week that gradually has an effect.

You could also look at changing your sandwich filling to reduce calories and going for fish or lean white meat for your evening meal.

I can see that you’re limited for exercising and that must be frustrating. I hope your spine isn’t painful.

The other thing I was going to suggest is a change of basal insulin type but as you’ll be having a pump soon there’s not much point doing that. The pump should help you lose weight. Most people lose weight when they start on a pump.

I know it's no excause it's comfort eating most the time..... I shall try that go to open sandwichs etc. Back is like a low grade tooth ache you know it's there most times but chair assist seems to be helping. That's good to know with the insulin pump. Am sure will have questions on those when the times comes!
