If you don’t mind telling us.
Are you carb counting and adjusting your insulin accordingly or are you on fixed doses of Novorapid.
What are your BG levels like generally and your last Hb1ac result.
Sorry for all the questions.
At the moment I’m on two units of Humulin M3 in morning and one unit in the evening, so not enough to basal / bolus.
Im carb counting and my BG are in the region of 5 to 8 ish. Maybe 9 after a meal.
I find the one drop App quite useful for carb counting as it has a food section where you can just enter foods and it tells you values. ( Don’t need to pay subscription). The book Carb & Calorie counter from diabetes Uk is also quite useful.
my latest Hb1Ac test score was 48.
Questions if I can answer as a newish diabetic are not a problem

Basically Type 1 is an auto-immune condition where your own immune system has destroyed the cells in the pancreas that produce insulin. Here’s some info about the differences:

Here’s some basics about Type 1:

.
I also found the Jdrf.org.uk site useful. They issue a free Type one reference folder that has some good information about Type 1.

Hope the clarity around your diagnosis helps you get more effectively tailored treatment, advice and support going corwards @Ratbag

As well as the books and resources that have been suggested, you might also consider the free online BERTIE course, which will help you understand dose adjustment around food, exercise, illness, alcohol and a host of other factors which can affect the balance of your BGs.

The Learning zone is very good in describing the difference between the types of diabetes.
Regarding treatment, for Type 1, it is insulin and, should be carb counting to adjust insulin doses.

Anyone on any blood sugar lowering medication (e.g. insulin), must tell DVLA regardless of whether they have Type 1 or type 2.
Hi
Please can someone tell me. If you are type 2 and on insulin can you come off this if levels get better with diet etc.. Also what other tablets are there for type 2 besides metformin. Or to take alongside metformin. (hope that makes sense) grateful for any info

Somme have reported been able to come off Insulin. There are many differnt types of tablets and injectables (not Insulin), for Type 2. These can be used in differnt combinations.
