hello everyone my name is sunny I am a type 1 diabetic have been for 12 years now some days are okay some bad as you all probably know I am 30 just thought I would join the group

Hi Sunny Welcome.

Hi Sunny
Welcome aboard, what type of insulin regime are you on?

Hi Sunny welcome to a forum where you can get lots of friendly help and support whenever you want.

Welcome Sunny. How do you manage your diabetes?

Hello Sunny and welcome to the forum. 🙂

Thanks Matt and happy to be here I actually woke up this morning with a hypo not a great start but am okay now

Yep take the hypos out it's not that bad a condition to cope with yeah I have been testing a lot more recently as my honey moon period lasted quite a few years and my levels have slightly gone up but the novo rapid covers it I basically eat like a non diabetic just hope that won't do me any damage as I give the insulin to cover it

The means to manage it have definitely got better over the years I've had it and are improving all the time. Have you been on the T1 carb counting course - DAFNE or equivalent? DAFNE stands for dose adjustment for normal eating i.e. adjusting insulin doses depending on carbs eaten which sounds like what you're doing. I only went on it this year but still found it useful and learned a lot it was also good to meet up with other T1's.

Nope not been on any course I may though as am always guessing how much insulin to give most the time my guesses are correct i have had a few hypos where I oversleep then when I wake up I have an headache so guessing I was probs out cold in them hours which is scary

Welcome to the gang Sunny 🙂 x

Hi Sunny, welcome to the forum 🙂 I'd definitely get yourself on a course, you might be surprised at how much you learn and it's good to meet others in a similar situation 🙂 Often, when you have been diagnosed a few years the medical types just assume you know it all. You need to learn how to get a handle on those night hypos, could be you have too much lantus - do you ever adjust it, or do you always inject the same amount? Night hypos can be especially dangerous, so it's certainly something you should try and avoid. Have you ever tested in the middle of the night, around 3 am? This is the time when most people's levels are at their lowest.

Doesn't matter how long you've had it, there's always something new to learn! 🙂

Thank you well I give 19 for the lantus I have checked it at 3 am and the levels seem fine at that time or if there low I just have a chocolate bar I have had quite a few night time hypos once my levels were 9.3 before I slept and I had a hypo during the night as I never got up till late and had a headache and knew the levels were low
