Type 1
Hi All

Kinda need some help from you guys, as always, but this is a little strange. I have been Type 1 most of my like in fact in 2 years it will be 25 years. But my Mom has just been told she needs to blood test as she is getting a very high HbA1c infact it was getting close to my average when I was a bad boy back in my 20s. Having gone through some of the early stages of complications retinopathy and very high blood pressure still take three blood pressure tablets. I'm trying to get her to take control a bit more. I have sneaked a look at her blood meter and there was a 13mmol on there last night. I didn't think T2 could get that high. HELP!

Hi Marc

Type 2's can go that high & higher!

My dad gets readings of anything up to 19! he has complete kidney failure & started dialysis 3 weeks ago . He was taken off most of his meds for blood sugar except gliciside(can't spell). Hoping blood sugar will settle as dialysis improves his general health; he is now on a very restrictive low potassium diet.

I have been high in the mornings; last week in 8's most days & as high as 11 once (but this to do with the night before!). On an aspirin study at present but when finished in early May I'm getting together with practise nurse who runs diabetic clinic's to discuss and form a plan as HBA1c was 6.5 on 27/02/12. So my average good; just what to do about high fasting tests.

Also my elder brother also diagnosed a couple of weeks ago (Type 2 very strong in family) his blood sugar was 20!

Take care &hope you mum's sugar levels get back to better levels soon.
