Welcome Ena.

WOW 50yrs!! thats brilliant. 🙂

Would u mind tell me how they found out you were MODY?
Also how did it work out being on tablets having type 1?

Thats if you don't mind me asking, but its quite fascinating there are all these different types and we intrust our doctors to make the right diagnosis. Craziness!

Take care

Hi Steff. You are right that things are quite exciting now in the diabetes world and lots of new medications are in the pipeline. I remembers (bearing in mind that I am 67) when my grandad was using his insulin about 60 years ago when he had a great big syringe which had to be sterilised in boiling water. no blood testing kits or diet info in those days. of course animal insulin was used then and I must admit I find the humalog very aggressive, very quick acting whereas the lantus seems to be very gentle. hope you are keeping well

Hi there. I discovered the mody gene in 2004 when my granddaughter who was 19 at the time was refusing to take her insulin and showing blood sugars in excess of 20. She never had an hypo or hyper and her lifestyle left a lot to be desired. because of this she was tested for the mody gene which was positive and then the rest of the family with diabetes were tested also. Because of this the younger members of the family no longer needed insulin and are now taking tablets. It is complicated but the doctors are endeavouring all of the time to do what is best for the patient.

Mody Gene

Thanks for your interest. The finding of my mody gene were V246L/N
as tested by the Royal Devon and Exeter Health Care which I believe is
part of the Exeter University.
