Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
I am a type 1 diabetic, I have had diabetes for the past 40 years with other health issues that have weakened my immune system. Allergies, hypertension, etc.
I work for the NHS at a local hospital, the hospital trust is going against government adviceager so I’m not allowed to self isolate for the next 12 weeks. The needs of the hospital are greater than the needs of at risk staff members. I have tried talking to my manager and his manager. I am wasting my time.
I live at home with my parents that are both in there 70’s they are both self isolating. My father has COPD my Mother has recently had an operation and has been on antibiotics for two weeks due to an infection. Yet I still have to work!!!!

Hello @Buzzybee ,

Thank you for your post. I am so sorry to hear about your weakened immune system and that you are not able to self isolate for the next 12 weeks. I can only imagine how stressful and concerning it must be for you and your family. It may be helpful to speak to one of our helpline advisers regarding work commitments.

Josh are there any plans to increase the help line hours , as we have had lot of concerned people asking questions.

Hello @grovesy ,

Not at the moment, we are currently trying to get all of our helpline teams working from home. I will have a discussion if we are trying to expand our team to help with the influx of callers at the moment/ increase helpline hours.

It was just a thought as we had such an increase over last week end. Which seems to be continuing, mostly queries to do with the virus.
