hi,

so ever since i've been diagnosed in march my periods have been awful, not so much the cramping but more the other side effects (such as nausea, headaches etc). i'm wondering if anyone else experienced this? i used to just get cramps, although extremely painful, any nausea was kept to a minimum and by day 3 i'd feel fine. but now for some reason when i'm on my period (since the diagnosis) the other side effects have been really bad. the nausea is horrible, and now i get headaches too. is there a correlation? if so, what do you know that helps this out? any answers appreciated 🙂

Well I've never had any period side effects other than stomach cramps, even when later I had awful fibroids so I was flooding every 28 days until I had everything whipped out.

I've never heard anyone ever say they had such side effects with periods, neither my sister mother or first cousin, nor any friends I've known since childhood and still do now we're ancient. Hence I'd most certainly be banging my GPs door down for help if that happened!

There may be a link but it’s likely to just be bad coincidence. Your GP can prescribe meds to help with the nausea (stemetil and the like) and if paracetamol or over the counter meds don’t help with the headaches they can give you something for that too. Migraine/headaches and periods is common. Nausea is common. I’ve had both at different points of my life.

What are your levels like? I can feel sick if levels are low. Which is what used to happen with my periods in the past, more hypos. Could it be that?
