Type 1 and adoption

Hi. I was admitted to hospital a week ago with DKA and diagnosed type 1. It’s been a rollercoaster week and realising there is so much to learn and it’s going to take time. I was just about to start the process to adopt before this happened and I’m really hoping that, once I’m in a better place with it, diabetes is not going to stop me being able to adopt. I’m getting in touch with the adoption agency to let them know and ask, but I was wondering if anyone here has any experience of diabetes and adoption? Thanks

There is nothing about my diabetes that has prevented me from being a parent - and Diabetes is recognised under the Equality act, so i would be very surprised if it raised even the slightest eyebrow with the adoption agency
