Just wondered how people managed this.I think you were going to ask about possibly being Type 1 @jtg1964 ? Type 1.5 is a slow-onset form of Type 1.
Many doctors avoid using the term Type 1.5 because it is either not known or ambiguous.Just wondered how people managed this.

Thank you.I will know more on Monday. They manage it in various ways, but early introduction of insulin is thought to preserve the remaining beta cells for longer. Also, some Type 2 meds like Gliclazide aren’t a good idea for Type 1/1.5 as they burn out the beta cells faster.
IMO, the best thing would be to get some clarity about what type you are. There are blood tests that can help determine Type 1/1.5. If the doctor you mention is a GP, you could also ask to be referred to a consultant if you need more expert input.
Been over a year and no meds are bringing levels down. Im under 8stone active.I had a heart attack at 42 and have a stent. Lived and eat very healthily. All blood tests over the years crept up ...now in 8 wks gone from 60 to 82.Many doctors avoid using the term Type 1.5 because it is either not known or ambiguous.
LADA - late onset diabetes as an adult - is just a variant of Type 1.
Type 1 is managed with insulin.
What is the reason your doctor feels this maybe your diagnosis?
Have they done any blood tests to confirm?

My understanding is, if there are problems with your pancreas that are causing high BG, this is classified as Type 3c.Im having a CT scan to look at my pancreas.
Oh gosh...well my aim is to get the right diagnosis and it's treatable. My understanding is, if there are problems with your pancreas that are causing high BG, this is classified as Type 3c.
This is different to LADA/ Type 1.5/Type 1.
