As far as I am aware the search results you get anywhere depend very much on the search facility in the underlying software and it is a fact of life that search different search facilities provide different results. I will tag @everydayupsanddowns and suggest he speaks to the forum architect to see whether there is any room for tweaking the search facility in the software underpinning this forum.

If you want some real fun, try playing with the search results you get from the main search engines. I tend to use duckduckgo as a search engine. There you do not get the ad ridden stuff that google puts at the top of its list. If you put Diabetes UK into google, the chances are that the top result will be Ebay offering to sell you Diabetes UK!

Yes the site:forum.diabetes.org.uk/boards/ search engine option can be very handy. Particularly where I’m not quite sure what I am looking for!

I would need to look into the forum software to discover exactly how the forum search operates, and whether certain characters (eg + or -) affect results.

I believe the forum search mostly prioritises phrase searches for sequences of words which are not separated by commas, plus ‘and’ searches rather than ’and/or’

In the case of your query I think the compound word covid-vaccination, and also the word ‘bump’ seems to have thrown the forum search off a bit.
