Heart and diabetes charities are urging us to cut our calorie intake after a survey found two thirds of adults in Merseyside do not know how much they should be eating.

The campaign begins this month when many people struggle to cut back following the Christmas binge.

A YouGov survey found just 32% of people in this region knew the average adult man should not generally consume more than 2,500 calories a day. The national average was 35%.
