Two patients have ded and 14 possible infection cases are being probed after a C diff outbreak at a hospital.

Patients are being cross-examined by NHS staff after the cases at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where two patients who died from underlying conditions had also tested positive for the disease.

Those infected are being cared for in isolation as the cases are being looked into, and infection prevention and control procedures are in place to protect them and others in the hospital.

Samples are currently being tested to establish if any of the identified cases are linked. The affected ward remains open.
