Sabrina Gardner and Carolyn Gershenson know a bit about diabetes.
Gardner?s daughter has lived with Type 1 diabetes for more than 13 years, and her mother and 12 other people on her mother?s side of the family are living with diabetes.
?My mother told me once: ?Sabrina, diabetes is its own boss,?? Gardner said. ?It does what it wants to do when it wants to do it.?
Gershenson is a registered nurse, certified diabetes educator and diabetes clinical specialist. She taught her now-college freshman son how to use an insulin pump when he was just three years old.
