Not quite sure of the Victoza delivery device Steffi
Most insulin pens allow you to 'airshot' a minidose to prime the pen, then dial up the full dose (before inserting the needle) then push the plunger/spring-loaded button/whatever once you've pushed the needle in.
A 'turning' action for delivery sounds a bit ickyAre there other Victoza compatible 'pens'?
i do but i turn the dial to 1.8 and as its inside my tummy and turn the dial so the victoza comes out
Hi Steffie, is the pen like this one? You shouldn't need to twist it if it is, as you press on the button the dose you have dialled up should be delivered. It works the same as my novopens:
http://www.victoza.com/starting/using-your-pen.aspx
Press down on the center of the dose button to inject until 0 mg lines up with the pointer.
...
Keep your thumb on the injection button until you remove the needle from your skin.
Is this the pen Steff ?

You have to scroll down a bit to see the pictures 🙂
I wonder if it's like Lantus in being acidic. As it gets into the body, it changes its pH and becomes effective. I've never had problems with lantus but apparently it can sting as it goes in. Maybe voctoza has similar properties.

Hi Steffie
Just looked up a pdf online (looked a bit US, so not sure if your pen is the same) It seemed to suggest that the 'plunger' would work in a similar way to an insulin pen. Dialling the dose with a 'twist', but delivering with a straight 'push' (there might be a rotating disc in the button on the end which allows you to push for delivery without having to turn it?

'Keep your thumb on the end' suggests a push not a twist.
Maybe there are other Victoza users around who could offer more hands-on experience?

If you haven't been shown properly, then they shouldn't expect you to just know !! 😱
Have you been getting your dose the way you were doing it ?
Rob
