where did i go wrong? any ideas please???

many thanx xx

Hi eat2live,

What do you usually eat at breakfast when it is only 7.7? Both the branflakes and the banana are both packed with carbohydrates and can put up your blood sugars (personally, I'd have to avoid both but each of us are different).

How small was your serving of new potatoes? my serve size is usually about 75g. Other than that you dinner doesn't sound too bad.

I assume you readings where both at 2 hours post-meal, which means they would of been higher at one hour.

Have you seen How To Lower Your Blood Sugar?

Well done on loosing 10 lb :D

Edit: Having scanned a few more of your threads; if you are feeling a bit stressed or have to start of a bug your blood sugars are likely to go up a bit more then you would normally expect for the same food. I've found I'm usually lower on sunny days then I am on damp days - so it can be a moods thing too.

thanx mark

after 2 hours it was 9,2..... 3 hours it was 7.6

i didnt measure the potatoes maybe i should in future!!

i put loads of the veg on to fill me up, i have felt a little of it today maybe that didnt help?!! its so confusing

thanx again xx

I always measure my breakfast cereal, it's too easy to add too much. I would set a target carb content for each meal and adjust according to your readings at before eating and +2 hrs, until you are sorted. Bran flakes are 65% carb and they suggest 40gram serving, how much do you have? How much milk? Most breakfast cereal is 50%+ of carb. Half a small banana is about 10gram carb. Get yourself the calorie carb fat bible, very useful.

I don't weigh potatoes, it's fairly easy to judge the size and they are not too bad carb wise. Onions are a close second to potatoes so don't have too many.

Are you trying to limit your fat intake to reduce weight? Because what you did to that mince was sacrilege, you should just pour off any excess fat. I believe it's important to enjoy the food you do eat so you need to put flavour into meals and some of that meat flavour is in the fat I'm afraid.

Forgot to say - it's till very early days, just regard this as another learning experience and a chance to improve your cooking skills.
