l tryed to have a go at my meter today,ok lm getting the blood on the strips ok but do l just insert the strip strate awayor do l have to press the up button or down? my kids tryed to help me, we read the user guide but it is very complcated still getting er2:confused:

With both mine (a one touch and an insulix) just putting the strip in turns on the meter. You have to wait a few seconds till is registered the strip and is ready for the drop of blood.

If I haven't managed to get a drop of blood in time and it turns off I can take the strip out and put the same one back in. Though it can be a bit tricky to do that without getting blood on it.

Hi Rosie,

Try this

1. put strip in meter - this will switch it on.

2. Prick your finger. If necessary squeeze or milk your finger to get enough blood.

3. Lift the meter up to your finger and put the blood on the strip

4. Wait a few seconds for the result.

5. Take a not of the result.

6. Take the strip out of the meter and through it away.

Let me know how you get on. Don't worry you will soon get used to it.

Best wishes

As laughing says all the meters I have used turn on when the strip is inserted then depending on what type would be a delay while the strip is recognised by the machine. It is then ready to suck up the blood, that's quite important as I didn't realise when I first had mine I was trying to sort of spread the blood onto the strip when you actually have to sort of dip the strip in and let in suck up the blood.

Where abouts are you there maybe somebody on here who is local that could help.
