Has anyone here used Truvia sweetener? Bought some from tesco's as it was half price. Was planning on using it in desserts.

Not used it myself but should be good for cooking with as it is heat stable.

Great! Thanks 🙂

I use it occasionally. You need less volume as well as less weight-its quite a bit sweeter tasting than sugar.

I'll try and make some diabetic cakes tomorrow then, but of an experiment 🙂

Will they be insulin dependant or insulin resistant then? (Sorry, I'm a pedant ). Dont forget that without sugar they wont rise as well or brown as well.

Insulin resistant. Probably. My cakes never rise anyway, so no change there.

I bought some of this as I wanted to dump the old style saccharin sweeteners. Yuk - disgusting. Now dumped all sweeteners and struggling to get used to tea without anything. Will get there in the end no doubt.

I dumped sugar in tea ages ago, from three spoons to none - now I don't even like the smell of tea with sugar in it! 😱 Also, I switched to skimmed milk years ago - tasted like dishwater at first, now even semi-skilled tastes like liquid lard! :D Good luck, you'll get there sooner than you know it! 🙂

I gave up sugar in tea & coffee 20 years ago. Couldn't stand it now.

When we got married, hubby used to have 2 spoons sugar in everything, and full sugar everything. 19 years on, he cant stand full fat coke, only has 1/2 a spoon sugar in coffee, and can happily drink a milky drink (cappuccino for example) with no sugar in. He never thought he could, but I've trained him into it 😛

I gave up sugar in drinks 40 years ago. Used to like a small amount on cereal until diagnosed then I changed to Splenda and it bakes well. Tried TRuvia and hated it.

Truvia is the only one i've tried and that is baking only. There is a lingering sweetness afterwards.
