Donald Trump asked whether he should be taking insulin — a potentially fatal drug for people who use it without a prescription — while announcing his administration struck a deal to limit co-payments for seniors with diabetes.

Speaking at the White House Rose Garden on Tuesday, the president said: “I don’t use insulin. Should I be? Huh? I never thought about it. But I know a lot people are very badly affected, right? Unbelievable.”

When a reporter asked why Mr Trump would take insulin, he called on US Surgeon General Jerome Adams to answer the question, who explained to the president that “your body actually makes insulin” and the drug was meant for people with diabetes.

At one point, Mr Trump added: “You know, if you don’t take insulin, I just wrote this down, go blind, stroke, amputation, kidney failure, and other things.”

😱 :( He needs to be careful, he might get his insulin pen and his bleach pen mixed up 😱

If trump wanted to try it I'd say yes go ahead 🙂 Pretty sure the world would be better off without the likes.

What a bad person I am. Oh dear, back to prayin :D

Don’t like the title of the thread - since when has insulin been a drug?

The dictionary definition of a drug is “a substance which produces a biological effect when administered to a human body”. Therefore insulin injected into the body artificially fits this definition, the fact that it is also a hormone that your body should be making by itself doesn’t come into it.

No, I don’t like it either :(

I'm afraid when you stick your head over the parapet and get yourself into a position of public responsibility - whether you're British and become PM or American and President - you get publicity whether you want it or not and it will be reported worldwide.

There would be a good many people worldwide too who might be willing to donate some of theirs …..

In which case food is a drug. The dictionary definition has been mutated in usage. Creon isn’t a drug, either. But think of the usage “He’s on drugs”. Means a different thing. So “drug” has come to be associated with stuff you shouldn’t be taking in common parlance. “He’s on tablets” has no edge to it.
