Trick the body

Hello,

I am on this low carb diet at the moment around 80g to 100g per day.

Years ago I used to do some boxing, a bit of interval running and swimming and lost weight from 18st to 12st in about 7 months (too fast) but remember having a strict diet plan for 6 days and a cheat day for one day a week. This clearly worked. My resting heart rate from 80 to 47bpm.

However, I became obsessive and then actually hated the food on my cheat day. Later realised this was a mistake as I got bored and went back to my old ways and put back on about 3 stones.

I am a strong minded person and believe mind over matter.

So I am thinking I 5 or 6 weeks time to start eating more carbs on just one day and see if it makes a difference over the week/s. I think the weight loss plateos out and you hit a brick wall, by doing this you are kind of cheating the body?

What do you guys think?

Hi @Newbie777 happy Saturday
I believe there is no one size fit all solution to weight loss and I understand it can be difficult when you hit a wall.
It’s great that you want to adapt different approaches to your diet. I hope this approach works for you.

Thank you, it is literally suck it and see.

At the moment I am 77.5kg and target is about 74kg, but I am losing fat, which is brilliant.

Can't really cut back on the food anymore and I am going to gym and exercising more.

Don't want to increase the medicine either as really happy with 4 tablets in total for my Diabetes, gone down from 8!

Also most people don't realise that weight loss is not straight forward and the body holding water, when yiu weigh, what you eat, all make.a difference and if it goes up now and then it is fine and expected and does not mean the plan is not working. Also BMI is not an effect tool as body size, shapes are not factored in.

Experience is a fine thing.

Yes I agree that BMI is not always that best tool to use as it does not account for the muscle mass of an individual.
it is normal to eat more when you are exercising as you are burning your fuel and your body needs to replenish its store.
Good to hear that your meditation has been reduced bravo!

I am a strong minded person and believe mind over matter.

A couple of reflections: firstly, being "a strong minded person" can sometimes lead people to set themselves unrealistic goals and/or to forget to be kind to themselves.

Secondly, to "believe mind over matter" undoubtedly can lead people to achieve great things - and can also lead to denial of the limits of what our minds can achieve. As someone in his 60s, I'm constantly reminded that, although in my mind I'm still young, my body definitely isn't!

Although I agree, I would also add tagt yiu only live once and make the most of it
Whatever you own, even the country yiu think is yours, it's Not, we are on borrowed time, let's make this most of it.

We all need to find the way which works for us, but I regard my metabolism as being like a diesel engine - it needs the right fuel and putting 4 star petrol into it, even just once is not going to keep it in a happy state.

Good thinking Drummer, Me I like to experiment going from petrol to hybrid to diesel but not EV! LOL
