has anyone heard of this new long acting insulin from novo nordisk or is anyone on it,

I'm on Tresiba

Hi

I've literally just started tresiba (or degludec) last night. Compared to the glargine it is pain free. I always got an intense stinging pain with the glargine. The tresiba according to my consultant is supposed to be amazing and has done incredibly well in the trials. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it works just as well as the glargine but luckily this is only one injection of background insulin not two. As a needle phobic this is much appreciated 🙂

If anyone is curious about this insulin just message me and I'll let you know how I'm finding it after a couple of weeks.

I'm the first diabetic at Durham hospital to go on tresiba, not sure if there are any others out there, but it would be interesting to know.

Be interested to hear how you get on with it Claire.

The 40hr duration seems a bit weird to me - not sure how that is going to work with the recommendation to 'take it every day' except by intentionally overlapping doses...

Still, if it works for you - brilliant!

Did you get much of a hard time over the pricetag?

Hi
I have been on tresbia for about a month now, still trying to get the right dose so not sure about it. think it is better than lantus as only have to inject once instead of twice. as having to give large amounts, using 200ml pen as only half the liquid, see what happens once things settled down, had hard time lately, had to come off pump, and just ended up with infection after infection which has not helped.

Sorry its been a while, things have been so hectic these past 2 months. Anyway..... a quick update. Tresiba for me has been amazing. My consultant said that unlike lantus the tresiba doesn't have any peaks. I used to get loads of hypos on lantus during the night as it would suddenly drop my levels in the early morning.

I use the 100ml pen and take 17 units before bed, however I think this could be dropped down a bit as I'm waking up around 4 mmol which is annoying because I have to get levels over 5 mmol before driving to work.

I've not had any side affects, and I'm delighted that I don't get any stinging pain after injecting. My levels are so much better now. If I have carb counted correctly 9 times out of 10 my levels are with the 4-7 range or ever so slightly over. Am actually looking forward to seeing what my next hba1c is (ironic seeing as I hate blood tests, lol).

Thanks for your update, crystal-claire. Very much appreciated - amd hope life has been happy-hectic instead of any other type of hectic?
