During the night I had a really stubborn hypo ~ 2.9 3.6 3.9 ~ if you have a hypo like this & have jelly babies to treat the hypo do you treat with the same amount of jelly babies on each test until levels have gone back up? ~ I usually have x3 jelly babies/15g of carbs to treat the hypo

The general advice is to treat the hypo with 15g of fast acting carbs, then check again after 15 minutes and retreat (with another 15g of carbs if not over 4.0).

Having said that, my hypos are all different, and depending on what I think caused it and/or whether or not I know I have excess insulin on-board, I may treat with more than 15g of carbs to begin with (or less if it's just a gentle drift!).

Yes Gill that's exactly what we do - 3 jelly babies, retest after 15 mins, another 3 JBs if still low and repeat the cycle for as long as it takes! Those stubborn hypos really are awful aren't they. I've been known to get impatient after about the 3rd go round and just chuck a load of neat Ribena down my daughter's throat, this invariably turns out to be a mistake though as she then goes sky high after a little while! So I wouldn't recommend that, stick to the rules and hopefully you can't overtreat.

Like Mike I try to match what I use depending on what has led to the hypo.
I usually use the 3 JBs and wait the 15 min (I have to set a timer inmeter otherwise I will be impatient)
If still low and it is exercise that has caused it I will go again.

The repeat hypos are very irritating, especially if you are in the middle of diong something interesting.
