Just did a random test as dinner is running late, and was surprised to find a 3.6, my lowest ever BG, yet I feel absolutely fine! Should I treat based on the numbers or just ride it out until dinner time?

Maybe do a re test and make sure it may just be a random dodgy number.you done all the usual made sure hands are clear of all substances etc

Depends how long till dinner?

If you say it's running late, like 30 minutes then I wouldn't treat it, but if it's going to be longer then you could have a small amount of fast acting carbs like orange juice just to make sure.

But just because you feel fine shouldn't mean you can ignore it till dinner. Personally for me it would completely depend on how long till dinner from the time you took the 3.6 reading.

As for the question, treat the numbers or the symptoms, it's always the numbers. Symptoms can vary from person to person, and theu can vary within the same person, and sometimes not become apparent until it gets way too low. Always treat based on numbers.

Did another test with a new finger and registered a 4.0 so decided not to treat. Dinner was about an hour away, tested again before I injected and I was 4.3 so I think the right choice not to treat.

Thanks for the advice re numbers or symptoms, I shall bear that in mind next time I get a low reading (not that I get many, hence the reason for the question)

Glad it turned out well in the end.

Well any reading below 4.0 my meter reminds me to test again after 15 mins so that's what I'd have done. But of course if there's any chance you might have any fast acting kicking about - I'd have gone for the Lucozade.
