Relationship to Diabetes
Parent
Hi hope someone can help, my son is going to Canada to work for several months, type 1 he is 22 diagnosed at 19 months old has great control of his diabetes, so no problem health wise, but does anyone know about getting his prescription over there, ? it will be very expensive if he has to pay for it , any advice please.

I believe he would have to pay for his insulin on the same terms as Canadians. UK prescription payment exemptions are only valid in the UK

Strangely, considering insulin treatment was discovered in Canada and pioneered by Eli Lilly in Canada - certain treatments are not available to patients in certain territories whether funding is in place or not.

He needs to check specifically for exactly where he's heading, as to what happens to be available there and the likely cost of it. His employer? Home office?

Thank you I will do this
