I was perfectly right on it

Then down a hole I fell

Caught out at the checkout

By a sugar bomb as well

They know what they are doing

With that diabetic snare

Don’t add it to the shopping

You have to stay aware

My basket had the right things

Diabetically so on song

All carbohydrates balanced

And not a foot put wrong

Defences had been lowered

I had no time to think

Grabbed it, bought it, ate it

Then felt my spirits sink

I’m normally so resilient

The things I buy are right

Then hooked up by temptation

It isn’t a delight

Don’t be pounced on at the checkout

They plan it at the store

To catch you, when not thinking

With sugar, carbs and more

Be a switched on diabetic

Knowing when you should say no

Don’t fall into the store trap

Walk out smiling as you go
