Tragic mother failed to look after diabetes

A YOUNG mum?s failure from childhood to manage her diabetes ended in tragedy, an inquest heard.

Kelly Jane Newman, from Pontypridd, never came to terms with living with her Type I diabetes after being diagnosed as a teenager, her mother Mrs Barbara Spiller told the hearing in Aberdare.

She had twice been hospitalised with diabetic comas and should have injected insulin twice daily, but rarely looked after herself properly, the coroner?s court heard.
