A few weeks back my diabetes nurse suggested Toujeo insulin instead of levemir. Is anyone on this insulin? I worry about trying something new but just Maybe it might suit me better. I am on 67 levemir at the moment. 40 at night and 27 morning, I was told as they are such big amount that then maybe it is not absorbing very well.

Wondering when diabetes nurse gets back to me today to start trying the toujeo instead of staying with levemir.

Toujeo is a more concentrated form of insulin, so you inject less liquid for the amount of active insulin, and it was developed for people on higher doses of basal. So your nurse is right in thinking this would be something that might benefit you.
If you decide to try it, you could always do it with the proviso that you go back to Levemir if you find the Toujeo doesn't help.

Thank you, yes they said i could go back to levemir if not happy.

I was forced to use Toujeo by the system here in Andalucia. Levemir was never 'on offer'. I used Lantus previously but Sanofi withdrew it. I was very reluctant to change because Toujeo cannot be split into morning and evening doses. I must say however that it has worked fine for me and my concerns were proved to be unfounded. It did prove a little difficult at first because I had to slightly alter the amount injected but now I have mastered that the results have proved to be significant. The Toujeo pen is vastly superior to the Lantus pen, silent and much easier to use.

That’s interesting, i didnt know the Toujeo pen was silent. Not much use for the visually impaired, then. Or folk like me who count the clicks if I’m injecting in public.

You can get over the big dose absorption problem by injecting a half dose at one site and the other half at another. I know that doubles the injections, but you don’t have to change the needle, or change medication if it’s working. With more efficient absorption, you may be able to reduce the dose.

I didn't make my comment absolutely clear for which I apologise. You can hear the clicks when you dial up the dosage, it's just when the button is pressed that the pen is silent. The old Lantus pen used to sound like a Kalishnikov going off at full throttle when you depressed the button to administer the dose.
