I started taking this about a month ago along with 2x1g of metformin and 2x160g of gliclazide. As per my dsn instructions i increased my toujeo every 4th day till my morning bs averaged 7. When i reached this average i dropped 2 of my gliclazide and carried on upping my insulin.

The problem is now within 2hours off taking my insulin my bs drop to 3. Any clues ? Thanks

As I understand it, Toujeo is a higher-strength of glargine (most commonly known as lantus). How many units have you increased to Andy? If you are dropping to 3 before next injection that would suggest that the dose is now too high. I'd have a word with your nurse or doctor to see what adjustments they advise - things have obviously changed quite a bit if you are off the gliclizide. How many units of Toujeo are you currently on and when do you take the injection?

I found this on the Toujeo website. It looks like it has a bit of a peak after two hours, so this could explain why you are low then. But the thing that surprised me was the fact that it lasts longer than 24 hours, but you're supposed to take it once a day at the same time. looking at the graph, and seeing how it tails off, it looks to me like you'd have more insulin in your system for the first 6 hours or so after injecting.

Can I suggest you speak with your DSN, Andyboy? I guess they don't work on Saturdays, but you could leave a voice mail message and / or send an email today and get an answer on Monday, hopefully.
