CANCER patients waiting for brain surgery at the most advanced centre in Britain have been told NHS England will not fund treatment there.

For the second time in six months NHS England has refused to fund radiosurgery at the University College London Hospital?s prestigious National Hospital for Neurology Neurosurgery (NHNN).

Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt now faces calls to intervene ?before lives are lost?.

The hospital?s Gamma Knife Centre, based at the NHNN, opened in October 2012. It saved or extended the lives of 59 NHS patients in its first six months.
