Had a lie in, had a hypo then it’s been up and done all day.
I had a correction at about 11am because of how high it was, only two units and then it plummeted. Had a hypo just before lunch so didn’t take my insulin until after I ate, then we went for a walk and had another hypo.
Bit fed up of it now. Not sure what is going on.
The sensor is due off tonight, barley clinging on so I think that’s the gap, not too fussed as I have been using my other meter and the results match quite.

I hate days like that. Hope tomorrow is better.

Yikes! Sorry you've has such a runaround with the diabetes fairy @PhoebeC

Hope she leaves you alone for the weekend now!

Not sure if you are aware but DAFNE recommends not doing a correction after a hypo because the liver will claw back some glucose to replenish it's stores from the meal following a hypo and that can lead to further hypos. Maybe worth bearing in mind for next time although I can understand how tempting it is when you soar up to 15+ like that. I imaging you must be feeling pretty yuk after all that yoyoing. Hope tomorrow is a better day for you.

What has happened is that the insulin already in your system caused the first hypo. Then you corrected that with however you deal with hypos, then added more insulin into your body on top of what was already there, to cause the second hypo. As rebrascora says, the liver would look on all this and go into panic mode as well. The key to stopping this is not to overcorrect the first hypo, and not add in any more insulin, just wait to see what happens instead of instantly adding in more insulin - the BG may well start to come down on its own with the onboard insulin that caused the trouble in the first place.

Sorry that you have had such a rubbish yo-yo day, and I hope that tomorrow is better.
That DF gets around, and seems to be overactive at this time of lockdown.

Phoebe - it's so counter intuitive it sounds ridiculous. I doubt very much indeed there are many of us who haven't 'been there; done that' ! When it's properly explained I bet we all went DOH! in our heads, though I freely admit it was dear old BERTIE that explained it to me first cos nobody else had and in fact the lady sat next to me, middle aged, T1 since childhood with 2 sons both T1 and T2 husband too by that time, queried it because it WAS the first time she'd heard it too. I volunteered to say I'd only found out myself a matter of minutes ago, but I also knew that doing 'the other' just sent my BG into a see saw which was always a ruddy nightmare so I'd be adopting the approach myself very soon too.

Trouble was with both of us, we'd been T1 for so long that medics very often wrongly assumed we already knew this, that or the other - but we just didn't!
