Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi, I was diagnosed type2 in feb this year. Still finding everything a bit confusing. Blood glucose started at 11.6 and varies but never below 8.6 when I get it tested at my surgery. I am taking 1000g Metformin daily.

I am not overweight and never have been, I exercise regularly and have a healthy diet. I have the odd Chinese and cake but not daily.

I have read similar entries on the forum so know I am not alone. It's good to have this facility.

Hello Jack, welcome to the forum. Yes, you're right there are a few in here like yourself. Glad you've joined us.

Hello Jacktr, welcome to the forum. Sorry about the diagnosis, just goes to prove (again) that T2 is not exclusively about lifestyle. Sounds like you've been doing all the right things all along. Does either of your parents have diabetes? Some of us have a strong genetic predisposition.

Do you have a blood glucose meter so that you can find out what foods cause spikes? If your GP hasn't offered you one, do try again (and again). Knowing what foods to avoid/restrict will help a lot.
