Hi everyone, me again with another question! Yesterday and today I've been experiencing tiredness. Before I was diagnosed I would find I was tired a lot with a lack of energy, would have to nap after work (I have a desk job so not physically demanding) but since I've changed my diet up (I'm eating low(ish) carb) and started exercising I wasn't finding I was tired anymore. However yesterday at about 2pm a wave of tiredness hit me like a tonne of bricks. I'm working from home so managed to sort of struggle on for another hour, doing stuff but not being very productive, and then I had to go for a nap. I slept for about 90 mins and when I got up I was still really tired - I felt really dopey, couldn't be bothered holding a conversation, couldn't pay attention to the TV etc. I checked my BG readings and they were fine. This morning I've got up and I was less tired than yesterday but still felt pretty slow and groggy, and now the wave of tiredness has hit again. Checked BG readings again and they all seem fine (to give an overview, BG yesterday was 6.9mmol/l on waking, I don't eat breakfast so didn't check again til before lunch when it was 6.5, 5.7 2hr after lunch, 6.3 before tea and 7.3 2hr after tea and then 7.5 on first check this morning). I'm at the stage where I'm linking anything I feel to the diabetes because I don't know the difference yet! Do you think this is somehow diabetes related or is it maybe just the case 10 weeks of lockdown has caught up with me!? Thanks 🙂

Might be and might not be. (Helpful, aren't I?) Just because you've been diagnosed diabetic does not mean you can't get anything else!

Look up the symptoms of eg being hypothyroid - are you losing any hair?

I actually thought I had thyroid problems when I went and was diagnosed with diabetes but they checked me then and I don't have (as a side note, I've lost I would say around 60% of my hair over the past 10 or so years, been to the docs numerous times to see why and they've never been able to find out why. It's fallen out more over the past few weeks for some reason which is worrying!).

Hey @Two_Hares i think being tired is pretty normal I felt tired for about a month but that was me readjusting to normal BG levels I still get tired when I eat a lot of carbs. Hopefully your tiredness is you just adjusting to things too but if you still feel tired quite often maybe contact your diabetic team and they’ll be able to look at your numbers and advise you better than non professionals like me can! Feel better soon buddy

Hi @Two_Hares , I too hope you sort out the tiredness, and it's probably just getting adjusted as others said.

Although I find different things make me tired... the intense heat of the last week made me feel very sluggish (I'm much more of an autumn/winter person), and this morning I was in a Zoom meeting for an hour and a half which made me feel completely knackered! When this is All Over I'm never going near Zoom again...!

Thanks folks, if it keeps up I'll give my docs a ring next week to see what they say. I do have an autoimmune condition as well and that's flaring up wondering if it was a precursor to this current flare!

@Pine Marten I can fully agree on both counts! I'm much more of an autumn/winter person too and I avoid Zoom at all costs!
