Oh and the other 3/4 days you literally remain rooted to wherever you fell asleep ?

We all do some exercise esp if you sleep upstairs the bathroom is upstairs and we live downstairs. In a bungalow we do less walking and no aerobic stair climbing - so vacuum the hall Jen! It is flippin exercise, even though your brain tells you not to be daft, how can it be? 🙂

Ha ha Jenny never remain rooted I’m a bit ocd with the housework the family play pop with me , well I don’t have a b☹️hall as such but it is a house with 11 rooms so keeps me busy , I wish I could doze off and have a nana nap but I cant I wouldn’t sleep at night ! I will go through the learning zone again although I did that to begin with when I registered , I also bought 3 books on type 2 that were recommended to me on here , I’m just going to wait for my results and take it from there as well.
Leadinglights just felt a bit of a fraud with such a low diagnosis compared with members on here why the hell am I so concerned when I read about people being hospitalised

Hope you get encouraging results that show positive progress @Outofsorts 🙂

Gutted , got my results from blood test remember me asking about tips on going for blood test
I have lost a stone but my results have got worse gone from Haemoglobin A1c level 53 to 55 mmols doctor is discussing with diabetic nurse about medication have to wait for a call I know it’s not a massive increase but I had hoped it was going in reverse

So ...... you've not actually told us a lot - how did you come to be diagnosed in the first place and what tests did they actually do?

That must be disappointing for you but at least you now know that the changes you made, I assume you did to your diet have not been sufficient to bring those levels down. I think it was suggested you got a blood glucose monitor so if you did have you been testing and making use of those results to modify your intake of carbohydrates. With the result you have had you need to ask yourself 'what can I do better, can I make some better food choices, can I increase my exercise.
Losing weight should have helped so you must have been doing something right.
If you have not been testing you may be in for some surprises as to what is keeping those levels higher than you really want.
Perhaps if you give some examples of the meals you have been having so people could make some suggestions for helping you make some changes.

Hi Jenny sorry I seem a bit vague this has all happened in the 2 nd lockdown havnt seen anyone and hardly spoke on the phone to a professional ! I just had a regular blood test back in February for my regular meds , previously I had been told I was borderline diabetic. The results came back in March this time as diabetic including high cholesterol. 53 mmols that’s the only info I could find on my test results , I said I would try to lose weight as diagnosis was type 2 see if I could manage on my own hence lost one stone, was told to have a blood test 3 months time which I had last week and the results have come back as 55 mmols , I really can’t tell you anymore that’s all I know

Yes Leadinglights a meter was suggested and I did say I wanted my results to come back first, so yes that has to be my next option , I will write some of my meals and maybe get some more advice.
My hubby seems to think I’m fussing over nothing as the borderline for type 2 is 48 mmols and that it’s very little compared to some on this site maybe I am

I don't think you are fussing over nothing as at 55mmol/mol, you are definitely in the diabetic range and in the long run you want to prevent all the issues that come with higher glucose levels. Now is the time to take action, it would be easy to say I'm only a bit in the diabetic zone, do nothing and find next time you are now at 60mol/mol so much further to have to go to pull things back.
Your priority should be to get a monitor and establish a testing regime to give you information to make better food choices. Inexpensive monitors can be had from Amazon The GlucoNavil or Spirtit TEE2 are reliable and have test strips at a reasonable price. The kit at about £15 comes with a few strips and lancets (you can unofficially reuse those) but you would be advised to buy extra strips at about £13 or 100. You do not need to pay VAT so remember to tick the box.

Thanks Leadinglights I take on board what you say, I await the nurses phone call first and take it from there thanks again

Many GP tell people not to test because they don't want to fund the monitors or strips but don't let that put you off getting one as you have the evidence from your result not improving that your dietary regime is not working and that by testing you will have control over your diabetes.
Even if you are prescribed medication it does not mean you will not have to change your diet as the meds are not a magic bullet just a helping hand.
I would make a list of questions to ask your nurse but you do have a say in the management of your diabetes so you should agree on a way forward that you are happy with.

I agree with the comments from @Leadinglights. Although the nurse/doctor have an informed clinical opinion, it's your health and in your shoes I would nip this in the bud if you can. Wishing you well.

Yes now is the time to take action on diet even if you are put on meds you would want to get off them if you can control it with diet. Take this as a warning before you do yourself any damage it's not something to take lightly as hubby suggests take control now and you can stop it in it's tracks.
