Pleased to report that my feet have checked out well after my podiatrist appointment this morning 🙂 Interestingly, I was given a leaflet in case I need any other services e.g. nail-clipping, hard skin, verrucas etc. for which a charge is made. When I went for my first assessment 4 years ago such things were provided free, now it's just the check that appears free.

Glad the feet are OK. I am trying to find somewhere that will asses my feet for me regulalry and do toe nail clipping and stuff. Actually the hard skin on my feet has got less since I took the advice to always wear shoes.

Glad all ok with your feet. NHS podiatry seems to be undergoing an overhaul atm. My son's hospital haven't been able to offer him an appointment for nearly 2 years as things are in a state of flux.

Glad to hear that your feet are good🙂

I commented whilst I was there on how good the service was here, given the problems people have up and down the country. I was originally offered an appointment the day after I called to arrange one, but unfortunately that was cancelled as the staff member was off sick. I've only had to wait a couple of weeks longer though and got shown straight in - all over and done with in 15 minutes! 🙂 Other PCTs/CCGs seem to do things very differently.

Two years is bad :(

Alan,
Glad all is well, when I saw the title of the thread thought you had done some poetry lol

Glad all is well Northie. Not had a podiatrist appointment since 2004. However the GP nurse does the pricky test.

Go on then! 🙂

The podiatrist who tickled my toes
Didn?t do it because it was fun.
She did it because it was part of her job
To ensure that I keep every one!

The podiatrist who played with my feet
Didn?t do it to give me a thrill.
She did it to keep each appendage complete,
For I want to have TWO boots to fill!

The podiatrist who pressed on my foot
Didn?t do it to cause me alarm.
She did it to test that each pulse was correct,
In order to keep me from harm.

The podiatrist who said ?Close your eyes?
Didn?t do it, whilst wielding a pin,
Intending to give me a birthday surprise,
But to say where the pin had gone in!

So I?m thankful to her for her skill,
And the attention she paid to my feet ?
Let?s make it quite clear, for at least once a year,
The tickling of feet is a treat!

Really glad that all is well with your feet Alan. Liked your poem too, it made me smile. No podiatry in Thames Valley other than a cursory look from the DN. I have found a podiatrist. It cost ?25 but was worth it as she told me about things such as Doublebase Cream to get on prescription and how to take care of my feel and what to look out for. I didn't have much idea except for washing them before I saw her. 🙂

Whats the point in seeing a podiatrist on the nhs if they charge for work they are paid to do, pleased the feet are fine but charges for nail clipping is taking the p...s

Hi HD, I lived in Oxford until two years ago and was seen by the podiatry service there. At the time, you only got a referral if there was something that needed doing (in my case corn removal). Regular checks like pulses and sensation were done at the GP practice. The same applies here in South Essex. Neither county provides free toenail clipping as standard, but the individual podiatrists that I saw in Oxford did it anyway. These days I can reach for myself! 🙂

Yes have to wait for months every year for my annual check thats after i remind them, they just say short staffed. I recently got referred for a bunion. Saw them end of december the follow up appointment was april a phone call as they are too busy too see me in person to see how things are? Dont see point of that really :(
