Firstly thanks to everyone who replied to my thread yesterday - you lot settled me down and your support was invaluable.

The tingling in my feet is continuing and is now fairly marked although its not all the time. I am having also slight tinglings in my legs and occasionally in my hands. I thought i felt one in my neck earlier but it may not have been - im unsure.

The specialist diabetic dr and nurse are on hols until next week and im really worried that it is something v serious.

I am worrying about everything at the mo so maybe looking too much in to it but just wondered what you guys thought is best to do and whether it is as serious as I think it is ?

If it is concerning you to the point of concern it sounds like get yourself to the hospital id say, they can look at you and give you the answer, its best in my opinion to get it looked at and not let it worry you the way it is, as that amount of stress on you aint good full stop .

I was in the hospital on Fri and Mon with chest pains, they are going to think I want to move in! 🙂

Have you checked your blood sugar level today? If it's high, that could be why. Have you been keeping your feet and hands warm? I've just discovered how much of a difference that makes.

If it's really bad, you can always call NHS Direct. I had to call them a week last Sunday and they were great, very helpful. But unless you're really high or the pain is really bad, I wouldn't worry, just mention it next time you see your doctor.

is there a pharmacist near you ? im guessing you use it to get scripts so they must know your diabetic? sometimes they have those rooms you can go in with the pharmacist and he can tell u wat he thinks

I think you ought to get a GP appointment even if it isn't with the diabetes specialist, as you are newly diagnosed it could be that your nerves are feeling the changes in your blood sugar as it starts to come down. But it could be something else so better to get checked out since you seem anxious about it, we can't really tell if it is serious or not. Hope you feel better soon

Hi Alison

feet have been cold recently but tingling stays when they warm up - also tingles in legs and hands when they have been fairly warm.

im not sure about sugars - ill check now ! 🙂

Hi Bob, somethings to bear in mind is that your senses will be feeling heightened at the moment - you'll be noticing everything much more than you would have done before, so try to imgine how you might have felt bout it if you didn't have diabetes. I think a call to NHS direct couldn't do any harm and as Nikki says any GP should be able to make a recommendation, they don't have to be diabetes specialists, so best to make an appointment. Hope things settle soon.🙂
