Hi all,
Having just spent my second spell in hospital in 5 years with this complaint,i'm still in the dark as to the cause of the tingling & numbness.
is there anyone on this site that suffers from the same? by the way it only affects my right hand side .
thanks

I have no experience with this personally or any advice but as a diabetic, the possibility of diabetic neuropathy must be there, wouldnt you agree?

Have your doctors said that it wasnt this..........

Hope it goes well, I dont know how they can test for it right enough, I had my feet looked at recently, no neuropathy, but it was just a sensation test to see if I could feel the pressure being put on certain areas.....

Its strange its only happening at one side of your body.........

Good Luck....:D

I took part in a drug trial a few years ago and some of the tests involved - as Novorapido says - sensation tests. I also had nerve conduction tests which must have wound the specialist up no end as my feet were always cold!

There were others like ECGs but I think that was more to do with the drug.

Hope all goes well. I'm still trying to build the courage to go and have a proper word with the docs about it so credit to you for speedy action!

Hi Roger, has this only happened twice or do you get the sensation in between these times when you have been hospitalised? How long does the sensation last for? Just trying to make sense of this strange thing you are experiencing. Have they done any MRI or anything?

The best thing to do is have a chat to your doctor or DSN and see if they can help.

Sometimes if I have slept awkwardly or sat for a while in an odd position I get pins and needles and tingly feelings in hands or feet. It soon clears up once I am up and moving about.

In the early stages of Type 2 diabetes, I used to suffer from pins and needles in my right hand (nothing in my left hand) when holding a newspaper in front of me. Also, I used to wake up in the night occasionally with severe pins and needles in my hands and forearms - i.e. as though I'd been laying funnily on them.

I never attributed any of these problems to diabetes and, if anything, used to worry about it being something even more sinister.

However, any such problems have all disappeared altogether since I started to normalise my blood glucose levels.

I've had a few minor episodes in the past , but these cleared up quickly.this time i've had it a week now . Ive had a CTscan this time and a scan of the neck both, were clear .last time i had an MRI scan that was also clear, so what next i don't know.

I'm glad they've done some fairly comprehensive tests. Hopefully they will get to the bottom of it but when I was undergoing tests recently I was told that you'd be surprised how often people get odd symptoms which are never explained. These days we expect answers - hope you get some soon.x
