Hi All,
Been on insulin for a month now and been getting on ok. Felt sick all through the night last night and was 7.6 this morning which is the lowest so far since being diagnosed in August. Have had pins and needles in my fingers all morning and a cracking headache plus still feeling sick. Started to feel a bit shaky. Checked bloods again and was 3.9. Ate and now am 5.6 but fingers still tingly and feeling very emotional and tearful.

Because I was low I haven't had my lunchtime insulin. If my blood sugar levels are ok this evening should I have my insulin as normal before my evening meal?

Is it normal to feel so crappy?! Does anyone else get the tingly fingers thing?

Sorry for long message; feeling totally overwhelmed by this today...

keep an eye on your numbers and see where you are before your evening meal.

The tingly fingers and sickness might be a sign that you are hypo, If you are above 4 and still have tingly fingers and feel sick get it checked out, it may be the sign of something else, given it is the weekend NHS direct would be a good starting point There are a lot of viruses doing the rounds and they affect people in different ways.

I hope you feel better soon

Some of the last hypos I had I had tingly toungue and fingers with a fuzzy head. I have also had hypos were I felt like I was having a panic attack, I tested that is how I knew I was hypo.

Hi @Sals75, I'd do half your usual dose then keep and eye on things after you eat. Take some more insulin if you're rising too high or too fast. I've only ever had tinglings when I'm high, never when low or hypo. I definitely get the tearful bit when I'm low, along with the hypo hangover afterwards. They're horrid things, hypos, they leave you feeling drained and strained and fragile. Not fun. I hope you're feeling better now.

There's definitely a bug going around though, to be expected at this time of the year. I felt sick in the night, horribly. Also had a splitting pain going right through my eyeball for days. The thing is, after being diagnosed with D, you blame everything on that and it might not be! Bit scary really.

As @AlisonM has advised. I would not be too overly concerned about your fingers just now. Your body will be adjusting, so you will get some effects. Watch your lows, but don't start skipping insulin yet, just balance out what you are eating.

You are doing a cracking job so far, so give yourself a big pat on the back.
