Hi everyone - I feel a bit concerned about my foot. It started last weekend and with being diabetic, you worry about your feet. It's the top of my foot from the front of my ankle to my toes. There's a spot near the front of my ankle that, if you touch it, sends a little tingle/current down the top of my foot. There is a slight feeling of numbness on the top of my foot. My husband has done the "tickle test" and I can feel all the slight touches on my toes. It's not really causing any problems - but it's a bit worrying. What do you think? Is it nerve damage? The only thing I can think is the weekend before it started I was wearing tight shoes without socks and walking a lot. Could that have caused it? For some reason, I always thought nerve damage would be on the soles of your feet. Any thoughts would be gratefully received - thanks x

I think neuropathy generally develops simultaneously on both sides.

I suggest discussing your concerns with your Dr who should be able to advise you.

Good that the tickle test showed good sensitivity. Hope it’s just a trapped nerve or something.

Thank you Mike. I'll have to make an appt with my GP, but thought I'd check with you guys on here first, cos there is such a mine of information and knowledge on here! x

Kathy it sounds a bit like something I have got. It started 6 months ago after I wore boots which fitted snugly around the ankle. I have a tight feeling around ankle and tingly/numb sensation on top of my foot. Have had tests for trapped nerves but everything seems ok. Do get it checked and good luck. I am waiting official results from nerve conduction test.

Hi Flutterby - thanks for your reply. It doesn't seem as bad today, so maybe I'll just see how it goes for a few days. Maybe it's sorting itself out?! It's hard not to worry about your feet when you have diabetes cos of all the stories you hear about nerve damage. I hope you get good results from your tests x

I had something similar about month ago started as pins and needles after few days went to cramps then changed to like a shock that traveled up leg, stopped now but waiting for neurology appointment

Hi Heatho - hope you get your appt soon - but glad that it's stopped now. x

Yes it's hard not to worry and in fact it is wise to get things checked. Diabetic neuropathy is on both sides, that was reconfirmed for me at my nerve appointment. If I were you I would get an appointment and see how it goes in the meantime. You can always cancel the appointment. It will put your mind at rest to get it looked at, that's important.

Let us know how it goes. Thanks for your good wishes.x
