HI I JUST been put on insulan need some advice does it alter the reading if you get up at a later tme in the mornings😛🙂
 
Hi trevann, welcome to the forum🙂 🙂What insulin are you on and how often do you take it? I take one long acting (lantus), and then a short acting with each meal just before I eat (novorapid). I take the long acting just before I go to bed, usually around 10-12 at night. What are your levels like?
 
went on lantus last week just started testing been going to doctors 5 year
on tablets as well started off on ten went up to 16 since doing my bloods up till today it start at 16 thenyesterday it was10.9 she toldme to increase
to 20 but it was 6.2 this morning dint know if it was done to the time i took it
as me andhubby had a late morning exicise

Lantus (in theory) lasts 24 hours, although this can vary somewhat for different people. Sounds like your nurse is building up your dose until your waking levels are at a good number. Ideally, you should take it at around the same time every day, alpthough some people split it into two injections as they find it lasts better through the day. Looks to me like you're doing well! To find out how well it is doing, test in the morning and before meals. Changes in lantus dose generally take about three days to fully show their effects.

Hi Trevann, welcome to the forum.

I have been on Lantus since last October and inject once a day in the morning at around 7am and am currently on 34 units.
Once you decide what time you will inject, it is important to inject at that time or as near to it as possible (usually within 1 hour). This is because if you alter the time you inject too much it can effect the absorption rate of the insulin and will cause you to get erratic BS readings thus making it harder for your Doctor or Nurse to make adjustments to your dosage.

dont get up early about 9 am up to 20 unit 10.7 still .being good with diet can you have any thing inbetween your 3 meals
