just noticed the time - I'm in the house alone and need to eat - I hate this time of day😡. I did consider doing jane plan earlier today until i saw the price. I hate having to decide what to eat when i am on my own :(

Is that plan suitable for Type 2s? I'd quite fancy doing that. Everything already planned. I'm fed-up of thinking about what to eat.

apparently there is a bespoke option. but looking at the menus they looked totally suitable

That's true. I wanted Meals On Wheels for Mum and was told it'd be under £3 a day, more like £5 odd. :(

It's all meals you could make yourself at home for half the price at least x

But then you have to buy all the ingredients and if it's just for one it can be a hassle and expensive plus I can't cook. 😛

Well not really some shops have smaller packs of veg etc specifically for single people, also you just make up a few meals at a time and put them in the freezer, or ingredients you don't use just chuck in the freezer for later, works out much cheaper in the long run than paying the prices they places are asking, say Wiltshire farm foods are wanting nearly a fiver for a bit of fish with broccoli, cauliflower and boiled potatoes, I can get 2 bits of fish for about £2 a bag of cauli and a bag of broccoli for £2.10 and a bag of miniature potatoes for £1 so total just over £5 to feed 2 and still have veg left over for another time, pre-packed feeds one x

My hubby does the cooking and batch cooks things.
I can cook but find it a chore but the web recipes I find ok as it's throw together bring to boil and throw on plate 😉.
I have done some of the cooking of late but I'm making for all but the young adults get rice or potatoes with theirs and I have an alternative or nowt. We are all eating less carbs as a family and it wasn't intentional.

I love cooking, even when I lived on my own. I batch cook things like bolognaise and chilli. That way I know exactly whats in my meals and always have something in the freezer for a quick dinner fix.

I have less motivation to cook on the weeks my husband is on late shift. Does seem a lot of hazzle for one person when it take prep, cooking etc and then 10 mins and your plate is empty.

I agree with all of the above- but there are times when you just dont want to think about calories and carbs

Yes I understand what you are saying. Before D, I would often have a couple of slices of toast, or pop to the shop for some croissants, or even resort to a bar of chocolate as my tea on hubby's late shift. But hey that is probably how I got like this. Some days I wish I didn't have to plan ahead so much and could just go home and throw whatever I want in a bowl and make a pasta bake etc. I suppose it is just adjusting to D way of life.

I have found it is quite a big adjustment to go from cooking for a family to just cooking for yourself. I love cooking and i am a foodie (in a gourmet sense of the word) but part of the love of food and cooking is the sharing of a meal that is appreciated and enjoyed by others
