Time for another hospital trip.

It's my day for the diabetes hospital clinic tomorrow.(Whoops, mistake) Monday. To be honest I don't want to go as I only got discharged yesterday from a 6 days spell with food poisoning (campylobacter) . That little gem and diabetes doesn't mix. Don't ask how I know. The eye of a needle springs to mind.

I feel your pain. Came back from Greece with it once...was off work for 4 weeks, it was before I was diagnosed diabetic but I think I'd reschedule if I was you and rest up.

Have you actually got an appointment tomorrow ( Sunday)? I didn't know type 2s went to hospital clinic but assume if you are on insulin or have an eye problem it would be the better place. Pity medical staff didn't liaise before your discharge so a clinical decision could be made to keep or rearrange.. I would have thought going to an out patients clinic when you are probably feeling weak/unwell isn't a great idea and you are probably susceptible to infection.. I had a good friend who ended up in hospital with food poisoning. It was believed it was an under done burger at a restaurant. She was in her thirties with no health problems and was very unwell.

Hope it is cancelled or goes better than you expect. May be worth a word on arrival or before you go to see if you can be seen expeditiously. I'm at the eye clinic on Monday and it is usually heaving. It was lovely during Covid!

See if you can re-arrange @PaulG They’ll understand if you explain.

Are you sure you’ve got the date right? It’s Sunday tomorrow.

The NHS are trying to catch up on outstanding appointments so Sunday wouldn't surprise me at all if it's a standard type appointment

The way my d hospital clinic is catching up is by making appointments less frequent not by working weekends, eg annual appointments instead of 6 monthly

I used to have regular scans for a AAA (Google is your friend) always Mon to Frid then I started getting them on Saturdays and Sundays and was told this was to catch up on appointments

Husband's AAA took years to get big enough to be operable - despite avoiding any violent or too strenuous activity - eventually had the op last August (stent inserted via the groin under epidural anaesthetic) and been fine since. Now back to 6 monthly ultrasound scans for X number of years to ensure it all stays OK for as long as possible.

So - don't get too anguished, should you ever be diagnosed with an AAA is my message - much like diabetes - once you know about it, you can do what the NHS tell you to do and not to do - and you'll be fine!

Ooof! Sorry to hear about your upset tum @PaulG

Hope you are feeling much better now. Those things can take a while to fully recover from. Look after yourself.

Sorry. Must be loosing track of the days. Appointment is for Mon 24th @ 16.45.

Another c up now. I came home on some sort of reality ward; which didn't work, and when I phoned and reported it the reply was that "I must have recovered" and have been discharged from reality. ?????????? (**** taking bar stewards)
A nurse called yesterday to pick the equipment up and amoung the paperwork was my copy of my discharge letter.
This has the new up to date drug list on the back I don't know what I'm on and what has been removed.

SIGH !

@PaulG glad it's tomorrow but sorry you have been put under additional stress. You obviously now have to prioritise obtaining your prescription. Sadly if she has taken partly used drugs they will be disposed of. May still be worth seeing if you can or should rearrange although Monday morning isn't a great time to phone.
The fact they thought you should be on a reality word suggests to me they wanted the bed and you probably wouldn't have been discharged til this week. I know if the appointment is important you will be very reluctant to change it.
Good luck

Hope your appointment goes well tomorrow @PaulG

Let us know how you get on

I don't really want to cancel as I only get an appointment once every eight months.
