NHS England says the mass rollout of the artificial pancreas builds on a successful pilot of the technology, which saw 835 adults and children given devices to improve the management of their condition.

Does anyone know which sensors are used with the closed loop systems? I’m just curious as I use the freestyle Libre, but it’s not always accurate if you’re low or high.

It depends on the system @Flower3333 The loop my pump uses uses Dexcom (but I don’t loop), the Medtronic loop uses it’s own sensors which are called Guardian, I think.

Different systems use different sensors, and each has its own benefits, drawbacks, and will suit different people.

I think there are about 5 or 6 currently used for different hybrid closed loops - Medtronic G4 (I think!), Dexcom 6, Dexcom 7, Libre 2, Libre 3, and Medtrum.

And I really wish they’d stop calling things ‘the world’s first artificial pancreas’ for every slight improvement on a sensor-augmemted pump.

It would be nice if they saved the term artificial pancreas for something which actually was an artificial pancreas, rather than just a pump that very slightly helped a bit in certain circumstances.
