Hi all,

I was checking my blood sugar all morning and it was 6.5,6.3,all day it seemed ok until I went out to my shed to put up a cupboard started to feel weak sweaty and that feeling of cold water runing down my arms and legs ( I hate that feeling I went to check my blood sugar level and as I thought it was 3.8 took some barley sugar sweets , and biscutics . The gp told me even when I am sitting down I am burning up blood sugar ( god they do talk rubbuish at times ) went to another gp and they said exercise is good for you I asked would I not be burning up blood sugar , she looked at me and laughed, is the food prawns ok and wotsits????????? ( I love prawns )

Dear Miker,

I am a little mystified at your post - you do seem to be doing well! You say you thought your BS was 3.8mmol/L if it was then it was a little low but you did the right thing. Your GP is correct, you are burning (technically oxidising) blood sugar even when sitting. Exercise is an excellent way to ensure that your blood sugar is kept to an acceptable level and prawns are an excellent zero carbohydrate food - I love 'em.

Regards Dodger

Hi Miker,
You are doing really well hun, unfortunately hypo's do happen..testing your blood was the right thing to do. Prawns are excellent to eat

prawns are great love them. I do enjoy a packet of wotsits on occasion too.
If you know that doing physical activity drops your blood sugar a little low then maybe you could have a small snack before.

yea miker your doing great , prawms hate um but i know there so good for you x x

I am sure I have read somewhere that heavy exercise can even affect your blood glucose levels up to 24 hours after.

Even when we are asleep we are still using energy because we are still breathing and our hearts keep on beating and our kidneys liver and all sorts of other things continue to work.

Prawns are a good low carb food so enjoy them. Wotsits (I like them too) are a treat. You are doing all the right things. Hypos happen, fact of life, you did right in responding to it the ayw you did!
