i saw a doctor a couple of week back who referred me to urology got to end of last week and received a letter from the local hospital that they couldn't offer me an appointment in person at this time due to covid issues fair enough i thought.

so i spoke to a local private hospital as i knew the prostate needed to be examined along with the spc catheter site looking at and surprise surprise if i pay then no problems getting a f2f! to me this is showing that something is seriously going wrong with our NHS gov screwball to say the least.

not sure what is going on in other areas but to use covid as a constant excuse is inexcusable and our outpatients has now been closed since the first lockdown! oh yes they are too happy to offer telephone appointments no good if you need examining. no wonder we are getting a build up of excess deaths when so many could be easily treated.

talk about feeling peeved right now.

Hi. I agree. On a PPG Zoom meeting for my surgery last week, the attending GP said they were following NHS guidance on limiting face-2-face. I believe there is rather stupid NHS advice (so what's new with the NHS!) advising surgeries to padlock the front door and it's very convenient for the GPs as they still get paid the same and can choose how much they participate with their patients. The GPs appears to be pushing their nurses to the front line whilst staying at the back. My local hospital is seeing patients f2f when needed so it may vary from hospital to hospital. We need to see GPs paid by the number of patients they interact with and paid the most for f2f. You would see quite a change if this happened.

I think it is based on clinical need and assessment, however if you don’t agree with their decision I would advise to challenge it.

They were great with me during the first lockdown, the GP still saw me and examined me, my referral to the specialist took a week to be seen in person and I was able to get bloods and a CT scan.

They will see you if they need to. I would voice up and say your unhappy.
