Welcome to the forum, deebraveheart.

Metformin can / usally does cause gut problems. Usually less if started on minimum dose (500mg tablet) and then gradually building up, plus having with food and limiting carbohydrate intake.

Hope your GP can help. Definitely check on dose you are taking, when you are taking and what you are eating.

Hi deebraveheart, welcom to forum. 🙂

Mods will no doubt follow with excellent advice. Can I just urge you while waiting for your GP to go to this web link...

http://www.phlaunt.com/diabetes/

...a well-known diabetes information site created by Jenny Ruhl, a diabetic herself, so she knows what she is talking about.

On Jenny's site you will find everything you could ever want to know to start to self-help, and self-help is an essential part of getting to quick grips with T2.

I couldn't say what Jenny says far better so I wont.

Good luck. :D

Welcome to the forum! 🙂

The side effects you stated should pass but if not talk to your gp, what dose are you on?....and are they slow release metformin?.....they should have SR on the pack?

Ask all questions on your mind as none are regarded as silly and trust me I have asked lots of silly question's! 😱

Cramp is normally dehydration. I have no idea what Metformin does to you but are you drinking plenty water ? Warm weather as well. Welcome to the forum

Met"fartin" is called that for a reason, I was on it, god was I ill, now on the slow release version and fine with that so perhaps if symptoms don't pass you can ask the question, oh and Welcome 🙂
