So I was originally diagnosed as type 3c, after a 2 year battle with recurring pancreatic caused by obstructive gallstones. It happened just before the wonderful times of COVID so delays and delays meant it was 2 years before my gallbladder was removed. I excitedly thought it was all over and got my diabetes diagnosis the next day.

I was on basal insulin and dapaflaglozlin or however it's spelled. Diabetes nurse persuaded me to look into bariatric surgery and I went for it. Went into remission almost immediately. Lost a bit of weight, but not loads (but not my main concern) and have regained most of it back.

I am however much more active than before and work with a personal trainer in the gym once a week which is never have had the confidence to do before. I had my diabetes review and my hba1c has slowly climbed to 52. As it's now been I think 3 years since my gallbladder was removed the person today is writing to the diabetes team at the hospital to see if I can be reclassed as type 2 rather than 3c as it alters treatment approaches.

Funny old journey, but thanks to this place I feel much better informed.

Gosh how unusual @stackingcups

Interestingly we have a new member who has joined today who has type 3c, and whose nurse is also suggesting dapagliflozin - @jayspan

They were trying to talk me into Metformin today but I've declined due to adverse reactions in the past and a much more sensitive tummy nowadays! Have said I'm up for trying dapa, as I think it's meant to be protective for heart (bad family history) and kidneys (recent urine tests flagging up poss issues)
