I purposely kept BG up yesterday
10pm 15.2 I fully expected it go up during the night with the 70% basal
5.30am stayed steady during the night and it was 15.3
At 5.30am I had a 3 unit correction but didn't expect it to go down to 6.5 because of the reduced basal
7.45 12
8.45 9.2
9.30 6.6
20 minutes later 5.5!!!!!!!

I was expecting to stay higher with all of the insulin changes
I want it to stop dropping so that I can take Susie out!!!!

I'm sorry it's being such a <insert suitably rude word here> Amanda! It's such a flipping pain when things won't settle down! 😡 Fingers crossed the tweaks take effect very soon & the rest of the day is calmer so you can relax & do things you'd like to do. ((((hugs))))

I really hope they can find some sort of answer for you soon Amanda, I know how awful it is to be left wondering and worrying.

Thanks Alison and Twitchy. It has now gone down to 4.6 - absolutely crazy given the reduction in insulin. I probably won't post much on here because although everyone is being incredibly lovely I know that there is only so much that you can say.

Awww i really really hope you start to get some positive results soon x 🙂

If it helps to come on here & let off steam then don't feel you can't Amanda - at least you can 'shout' via t'net & let out the angst & frustration knowing we can relate to how shoddy hypos & highs make you feel...we can't make it better but we can 'hand hold' if it helps? 🙂

Hang on in there... Xxx

Yes indeed, there is only so much anyone can say Amanda - but you are slightly missing the point I think!

It's my belief that we WANT you to keep posting SO WE KNOW HOW YOU ARE! - simply because we CARE, is all.

(If you find it a PITA because it frustrates you to know that we can't offer some pearl of wisdom - then of course don't do it, or feel obliged to just to keep us happy! LOL)

Yes keep posting if you want to because we do want to know. In fact that is why I came on here just now - to find out how it's going. love and hugs.xx

You are all so lovely. I thought I was the one being the PITA with all of my posting. Thank you so much. I so really do value your support because I feel like I am on a rollercoaster. Yesterday was another tense day trying to dodge the hypo - I gave in to jelly babies when it reached 4.1 because the nurse wants me to avoid hypos and we're trying to get me to stabilise as much as possible around 6/7. My fingers are so sore at times I am testing every twenty minutes. The jelly babies sent it up to 9 which is where it settled until I went to bed. It's 13 this morning, even with a correction, but but I think that was because my carb ratio was 1 unit to 12 carbs so I'm going to change that to 1:10 tonight to see what happens. I was meant to be doing so much fun stuff during the past few days - all of which I was looking forward to and had to cancel because I felt so lousy and exhausted. I don't feel safe at the moment going out on my own but I was determined to take Susie for a walk with Mark - had to sit down three times but at least I was out!! I've reached the stage of dreading every blood test because I feel so out of control. I can't begin to explain how much better it feels being able to shout and rant on here. You are such good friends. Thank you 🙂

I am so sorry that you are having such a bad time. I am sending you a hug (). I hope so much that things get better for you. It is so difficult because I understand that stress does not help BG levels and understandably you feel stressed when testing time comes. Glad you were able to get out even if only for a bit yesterday. Take care. Sending you positive thoughts 🙂

Thank you Happydog, the hugs are appreciated🙂

You poor love, that sounds a ****** nightmare...testing every 20 mins - why on earth haven't they given you a cgm?! ((((hugs, lots of hugs))) Really, really hope things settle soon, your poor fingers! Xxx

Hi Amanda,

Thats what this forum is for - support - through thick and thin so dont worry about posting - it will also help others who might learn a lot from your experiences.🙂

Just wondering what your basals are early morning - as I know you said 70% should have helped to stop you drop lower - but only if the basals are all much the same - if you have a lot lower basal for example the 70% wont be doing a lot. Not sure if I explained that properly!🙂Bev

Thank you Twitchy my fingers are getting very sore - things have got stranger. I had a massive and quick drop yesterday morning. Today BGs started about the same and the same correction but after three hours it hadn't had hardly effect today. There just isn't any pattern xx. Thanks Bev my overall basal has been reduced from 27 to 17 units so it is a large reduction.

Hi Amanda,

I tend to look at basals in hours rather than an overall picture. Just wondering what your basal rates are throughout a 24 hour period? How many basals do you have? Is there a big change in basals early morning?🙂Bev

Hi Bev

My Basals are in hour blocks and until a fortnight ago were great throughout the day and night. They are higher at 3am and 4am to cope with the delayed stomach emptying and are then broadly similar throughout the day but with some tweaking at different points as a result of basal testing that I do on a regular basis? I'm afraid that I am too tired to type them all up, I am not feeling very well at all.

Ooooo - d'you think you could have an infection or something?

Although I've been having a lot of hypos suddenly the last week or so, followed by quite a few in the high teens and 20's, nothing noticeable has materialised yet.

I'm not sure if it is a virus because I feel so lousy. Went to do some food shopping with OH so that I could get some very easy to cook food and thought that was I going to faint. Haven't felt well for about 10 days -spent last Sunday afternoon in bed completely exhausted - and had to go to GP last Tuesday because headaches were so bad. Would a virus cause BGs to drop?

PS Jenny sorry to hear that you've been having problems.

I would think it unlikely that levels would drop with a virus but you know we are always learning with the D. I suppose your pump is actually working ok and delivering the correct doses? It's just a thought, probably a silly one but we are all out of sensible thoughts - well I am. I am so sorry for you and empathise entirely with you not feeling safe out on your own. Big hugs from me.xxx
